Most of us are so busy that when we have free time it may feel...wrong. Take it from the girl who usually plans every hour of the day, including breaks. Having a break can be necessary after a series of nonstop events, work, and school, but we should not feel guilty giving ourselves one.

Coming home from college for my extensive winter break left me wondering what ever will I do to fill all this free time...become the next Picasso or teach myself to be fluent in Spanish? Yes, I could attempt to fulfill those grand ideas, but without the pressure to do it all.

The key to learning to enjoy free time is changing your mindset. A healthy lifestyle should include a balance between being a diligent achiever and an adaptable adventurer. Go out there and achieve your goals, check off that list, and get your work done but embrace the moments of freedom, try something new, and give yourself those well deserved breaks.

This holiday season I created a bucketlist of leisurely activities. Now that we have passed most of the busy family filled days of Christmas and are entering the New Year, challenge yourself to set aside time for yourself, try something new you've always wanted to do, and fully embrace the free time you're given.
